What a treat to be shuttled to the highest point of the Beartooth Highway, one of the most scenic roads in the USA and then simply coast down for miles. There’s no sense of accomplishment for having pedaled up, but every now and then it’s nice to do things without busting your lungs or using your quads. You don’t even need your own bicycle; just leave everything up to Beartooth Bike Tours. Before and after the ride, be sure to spend some time in nearby Red Lodge, the gateway to adventure. Red Lodge is the ideal base for exploring the Custer National Forest and nearby attractions. Being interested in historic buildings and having renovated several old homes, I based myself at the historic Pollard Hotel. There is a wide variety of lodging in the Red Lodge area to suit every pocketbook and preference.
